1. NEW SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT WITH GUNN & MOORE

    November 6, 2015 by James

Gunn & Moore is delighted to announce a new sponsorship agreement with Pro Coach Cricket Academy to support their various cricket coaching programmes throughout Yorkshire and their students.

Pro Coach was formed in 2006 and it has now become the official coaching partner of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, delivering sessions countywide from grass roots cricket in schools and clubs all the way through to its Junior Professional Programme at Headingley and overseas coaching camps.

Yorkshire captain and Pro Coach founder Andrew Gale says: “I am very proud that Gunn & Moore, whose bats and equipment I have used throughout my professional career, has added their support to the Pro Coach programme.”

The sponsorship will enable players to purchase Gunn & Moore branded bats and equipment for the 2016 season from the All Rounder Cricket store at Headingley (next door to the indoor cricket centre) at an exclusive Pro Coach & Yorkshire Pathways cricketers discount The sponsorship will offer a significant saving off the usual Gunn & Moore in store price.

This offer is only available at the All Rounder Cricket Store in Headingley where developing cricketers will be given a chance to try from the huge range of Gunn & Moore bats and equipment and be expertly fitted by the All Rounder team.

All Rounder MD Chris Taylor says: “Suitable cricket equipment is not always affordable to young aspiring cricketers but as a result of this sponsorship we can now offer Gunn & Moore bats and equipment at this fantastic price to all developing cricketers under the Pro Coach umbrella.”

Gunn & Moore MD Peter Wright says: “We have been helping develop the next generation of young cricketers since 1885 and it is at the very heart of everything we do. We are proud to be part of such an exciting programme.”

The final word goes to Andrew Gale: “I have been very fortunate throughout my career to have the support of Gunn & Moore and I hope this new arrangement with Pro Coach, GM and All Rounder will help a new generation of players reach their potential.”

  2. A Summer of Pro Coach Courses!

    June 18, 2015 by James

This summer sees Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket, the official coaching partner of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, offer young players around the county over 20 opportunities to further develop their game. Founded by Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale, Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket is now regarded for delivering some of the best junior cricket coaching in the country and is proud to have produced a large number of District, Taverners and County players.

With the emergence of recent academy graduates: Jack Leaning, Will Rhodes and Matthew Fisher, Gale believes now is the time to continue to inspire the next generation of potential white rose cricketers “with our success last year, combined with an Ashes summer this year, I think now is a crucial time for us as a county to try get children involved in the game”.

Using current and ex-Yorkshire CCC players alongside highly experienced level 2, 3, and 4 coaches, the opportunities this summer are to offer children the chance to further enhance their cricketing skills, but to also do it with a smile on their face. Gale highlighted “when growing up, I wanted to learn most when I was enjoying my cricket and even to this day, I play my best cricket when I’m enjoying it”.

Pro Coach will be running across the county this summer with coaching opportunities for children aged between 7 and 16 years.

With a variety of opportunities to choose from 3 day Ashes Camps through to the Headingley Elite Week, which will see youngsters from 8 to 16 have the chance to train and play like the pro’s at Headingley’s test match facility, there’s something for every youngster wanting to follow in the shoes of Leaning, Rhodes and Fisher.

10 out of the 11 players that played in the final fixture of last summer’s successful County Championship campaign coming through the ranks at Yorkshire, the Academy has picked up world-wide recognition for producing the very best in young talent. This is further emphasised with England selecting white rose stars Root, Balance, Rashid and Lyth who have all come through the junior setup.

Pro Coach wishes to continue this tradition of producing the players of tomorrow, before they head on up to the world renowned academy.

  4. Yorkshire’s Super 6

    March 24, 2015 by James

Theres a famous saying that reverberates around Headingley which is if Yorkshire at strong, England are strong and after the test match squad to face West Indies was announced on the 18th March, that may sing true once again.

    England’s Newest Opener

After scoring almost 1500 County Championship runs during 2014, it was no surprise that Adam Lyth was named player of the year but it was no full-gone conclusion that he’d made the test team.

Lyth spent the winter battling it out, toe to toe with Middlesex and until recently, England opener Sam Robson for the top spot. However, after a number of high quality performances the Whitby born batter has overtaken Robson to become Alistair Cook’s partner.

After getting the call, Lyth has celebrated this week by scoring a superb 113 in front of the England skipper in the annual curtain raiser vs MCC.

    Adam Lyth’s 2014 in Numbers:

    • 23 Innings
    • 1489 Runs
    • H.S. 251
    • 6 x 100, 6 x 50
    • Avg 67.68

    What you didn’t know…

    • Nickname is peanut
    • Trialled for Manchester City Football Club
    • His brother, Ashley has also played for Yorkshire

    Recalls and Regulars

There was also further reason to celebrate as both Adil Rashid and Jonny Bairstow were recalled to the fold after outstanding seasons in 2014. Rashid notched up 577 runs with a highest score of 159* combining his batting performances with 46 wickets at an average a tick over 26!

Bairstow proved to selectors that his dynamic power and stroke-play was worth re-selection as well as clear improvements made to his glove-work which included matching his father’s Yorkshire record of taking 6 catches in an innings Vs Sussex at Arundel.

Regular fixtures Joe Root and Gary Ballance have also been included with little surprise after both men had exceptional summer’s for England. Liam Plunkett has also retained his spot after a frustrating end to the summer where he suffered a foot injury. The Yorkshire paceman offers aggressive speed and bounce that England can’t ignore!

Want to follow in the Super 6’s footsteps?

Pro Coach is excited to offer a number of courses in differing venues to best fit your needs! Please see below for course information

  5. Junior Crickets launched in Yorkshire

    March 9, 2015 by James

Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket is excited to announce that we are launching a new initiative, Junior Crickets. With the aim to get infants, toddlers and young children active and involved in sport from an early age, Junior Cricket’s will be run in Yorkshire at The Indoor Cricket Centre in Headingley, in addition to Harrogate, Wetherby and York.

    Aim

With an alarming number of children now being categorised as obese or overweight, combined with the dropout rates of children and teenagers involved in sport at a worryingly high level; Pro Coach wishes to attempt to address these issues using this new initiative.

We want to inspire parents and children to get active and be engaged together from an early age and instil a passion for sport, particularly cricket!Andrew Gale, Yorkshire CCC Captain.

    What do sessions involve?

The FUNdamental movement skills of Agility, Balance, Co-Ordination and Speed (ABC’S) are the not only vitally important to excel in any sport, but also hugely important in the physical development of every child. The Junior Cricket’s session leaders will take both parent and child through stimulating, exciting and engaging activities that will look to enhance every child’s physical development and instil a lifelong love for sport now and into the future.

If you think that a child must learn their alphabet to speak properly or to spell, and they must learn to count before carrying out simple mathematics. Physical literacy is exactly the same concept. If a child can’t stand on one leg or stop a ball with their foot, will they be unable to go on and live healthy & active lifestyles?

We see physical literacy as a crucial cog that can only benefit Yorkshire’s future communities, as well as setting up the foundations for our next generation of sporting stars! Who knows, in 10 years-time we may have a former Junior Cricket walking out to bat at Headingley, playing scrum-half for the Rhino’s or even taking to the field at Wembley in an England jersey!
